When decorating a room, if at all possible, start with
the rug first. The rug you choose must be the right size, the right
color, the right design, and of course the right price. Nothing else you
put in the room will have to be so specific. Paint can be mixed to match
any color and fabric can be cut to any size. Everything about an oriental
rug is already predetermined, except for the price. It will also probably
be your biggest investment in the room. Before you set out to purchase an oriental rug, measure the space you'd like it to cover. Standard sizes are: 2x3, 3x5, 4x6, 6x9, 8x10, 9x12, 10x14, and larger. If the size you need fits one of these categories, then you will have a wide selection to choose from. If you stray from the standard sizes you may have a hard time finding what you're looking for. Bring paint, wallpaper, or fabric samples to match colors. Bring whatever you can, even cushions from your sofa. Nothing is better than being able to visually match or coordinate colors and designs. Look at many rugs before you make your choice. The number of colors and designs that are available are endless. It's a big investment and you want to get it right. So, take your time and enjoy the artwork that your rug dealer has to show you. Buy from someone who has a permanent store, who is willing to stand behind the rugs they sell, and who has a good reputation. An experienced rug dealer will be able to help you with your selection and answer any questions you may have. Manny's Guarantee since 1978 |
